Accessibility

Our commitment to making Signal Daily usable for everyone.

What we're aiming for

Signal Daily targets WCAG 2.1 AA. We test against this standard regularly and fix shortfalls as they're found.

What we've built in

  • Semantic HTML everywhere — headings in order, landmarks, and ARIA labels where the semantic element isn't enough.
  • Keyboard navigation for every interactive element. Press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K) to search, / to focus navigation, D to toggle dark mode.
  • Visible focus rings on every focusable element — we never set outline: none without a replacement.
  • Dark mode with WCAG-AA contrast ratios.
  • Responsive typography that scales with browser settings — you can zoom to 200% without layout breaking.
  • Image alt text on every published image. Decorative images use empty alt="".
  • Captions or transcripts on any embedded video or audio.

Known issues

We're aware of the following and working on them:

  • Some embedded third-party widgets (for example, X posts) are outside our control and may not meet AA contrast.
  • PDF archives predating 2025 may not be fully tagged for screen readers.

Report a problem

If something on Signal Daily is hard to use, please tell us: [email protected]. We aim to respond within 5 working days and fix anything we can in the next release.
